Accreditation assures program quality through regular,
independent review of all aspects of school academics and
administration, including such critical areas as mission,
curriculum, faculty, facilities and equipment, and student
services.
The English Language Programs in Blacksburg and Falls Church, Virginia, part of the Virginia Tech Language and Culture Institute (VTLCI), are accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA). The Main Campus location is accredited through April 2017 and the National Capital location through March, 2010. Both locations agree to uphold the CEA Standards for English Language Programs and Institutions. CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S.

The English Language Program at the VTLCI Main Campus location is a member of the
American
Association of Intensive English Programs, an
organization of accredited English language programs
supporting ethical and professional standards for other such
programs throughout the United States.
The VTLCI actively supports professional development within the fields of international education and English language teaching. Staff hold membership in NAFSA: Association of
International Educators, an organization
promoting international education in the United States. Faculty are members of Teachers of English to Students of Other
Languages (TESOL), an association upholding
standards of excellence in English language teaching.
The VTLCI has endorsed and conforms to TESOL standards
for postsecondary intensive English programs and the NAFSA
Code of Ethics/ Principles for English Programs and
Determination of English Proficiency.
